Federal Ruling on Salary

A federal judge in Texas has ruled that the new salary over-time rules are now enjoined nationally. Under the new rules, in order to salary an employee, they must make $47,476 per year starting December 1. Now that the law has been enjoined, according to the judge’s opinion, the employee can make the current amount of $23,660 annually to qualify as a salaried worker.

We do not think this is a good idea for an employer to follow this opinion and rather conform to the law. In order for a Texas judge to make this opinion and effect all other states, is probably an overreach of any authority he has. If this law is ruled ultimately as valid, you may be responsible as an employer.

But any ways, Happy Thanksgiving to all. May we celebrate what we have on Thursday and then go out and buy what we don’t have on Friday!
