Tax Season is Officially Open

January 23, 2023, marked the kickoff for the IRS accepting individual tax returns. Taxpayers will have until April 18th this year to file their taxes as the usual deadline of April 15th is on a Saturday, and April 17th is Emancipation Day in Washington D.C.

Some other notable dates to remember for tax season are January 31st, which is the deadline for employers to provide Form W-2 to their employees. March 15th for both partnerships and S-corporations filing Form 1065 and 1120S respectively. April 18th for Form 1040 for individuals, 1041 for trusts and estates, and 1120 for C-corporations.

If you believe you are at risk of missing a deadline try to file an extension, of up to an additional six months. The IRS wants to make clear that “an extension of time to file is not an extension of time to pay.” 1 If you need to file for an extension visit Here for more information.
