Google and Indonesia

The recent tax settlement between Google and Indonesia show how Southeast Asia’s biggest economy will likely work with tech companies. Google and Indonesia agreed to future payments going forward. Senior tax officials in Indonesia estimate Google could be accountable for $400 million if they wanted to push the issue, based on about that much revenue to the tech giant.

Facebook faces a similar threat, but now have this precedent to work with.

Editor’s Comment: Business is now literally global potentially for anyone with a website. Those with websites both here in the United States and internationally, must account for the taxes due. Amazon laws have now become popular in the United States and in the next decade, they will become popular worldwide. If you and your business operate across state lines or even across country lines, the time to set up and plan is now. Do not wait for a snowballing tax bill to come your way.
