Carol L. Basi, born, raised and educated in upstate
New York, married her high school sweetheart, Bart A.Basi, and has shared with him many happy
anniversaries. She is the
mother of 6 children and the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren.
She graduated from Nazareth College of Rochester
NY, with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry.
A few years later, she realized her first love of study had
always been English literature and so, studied for and earned a Master’s
degree in English from the University of Louisville.
Her teaching career involved classes at the junior
high and high school levels in Syracuse NY and Louisville KY.
She also taught English for the University of Kentucky
system in Louisville.
For many years, she was a stay-at-home mom
dedicated to raising her family, volunteering at schools, and driving to
and from piano lessons; childrens’ choir; various University enrichment
programs; play practice; baseball games; band practice; church
activities; etc. One day the
nest emptied so her husband suggested she might be interested in working
full time with him.
She had some knowledge of the operations of the company as she had
worked there on a part-time basis for many years and often accompanied
her husband to various association meetings around the country.
She accepted his offer, becoming responsible primarily for client
communications, staff assignments and editorial work.
She is the Corporate Secretary of The Center for Financial, Legal
& Tax Planning, Inc., (The Center) and is President of their real estate
company, Woodland Rental Properties, LLC.
Carol enjoys being involved in civic and charitable
causes. She served as Co-Chair of the Annual Fund Drive for the
American Cancer Society in State College PA where her team raised a
record amount of funds for cancer research. She also volunteered
for the same organization in Marion IL. She served as Publicity
Chair for the annual fund drive for the United Way campaign in
Murphysboro IL. Currently, she heads up a volunteer program at The
Center for the State of Illinois' Adopt-a Highway program in Marion IL.
She has been a long time supporter of Habitat for Humanity, was
President of the Parish Council at her church and is a Eucharistic
Minister.
